Sooo…the challenge begins! Our friendly volunteer tour guide Sohrab guided us to our quarter “Kazimierz”. What did we see?
The first thing we saw is the Preirogi Factory, which actually wasn’t really recognizable as such, but we knew it thanks to our guide. We then continued to the Square for which this area is known for among the tourists.
On Sundays a second hand market can be found. A place full of wonderful clothes and treasures for good prices. Otherwise the square has a lot of bars and cafes popular among tourists and locals. There we tried out a bar and took a snack. We asked the waitress her opinion to what could be changed in the quarter and after some long thinking she said: “It’s dirty here”.
Continuing on our challenge, we found a Jewish cemetery. Opposite it an empty space – maybe a probable catalyst space?! Not far off we saw a tent of the Jewish Culture Festival. They referred us to a young woman who told us that she would like to promote the interaction between the Jewish and Polish people in the area. According to her this area is the “Jewish Quarter”.
All in all, we liked this area. It seems to have a quite mixed population. It is a lively neighborhood, with many tourists and a lot of cafes and pubs. However, we noticed of cultural spaces. So, generally a must go place in Krakow. We enjoyed it thoroughly!!!
