Continuing our blog, here comes the second part of our group’s visionary plans.
BOOK SHARING CORNER, COMMUNITY GARDEN
This is a very popular idea nowadays – creating community gardens on abandoned/empty lots. This creative quasi guerilla idea can work in many ways for the community: it’s added values would definitely be beneficial. Building a sense of community through shared work is always a good way to reach out to people and make them come together. In addition, the maintenance of the garden would be the responsibility of the habitants, therefore it’s cost could be kept ona really low level.
Book sharing could also be a low-budget solution in order to stir up the community, and as this idea can be realized using very little space (as seen above) little book sharing corners could be established in several corners of the area.
ADULT PLAYGROUND – RECYCLED
adult playground is yet another one of our ideas that could be implemented in the common area inbetween the blocks, in the empty communal space.
We did find some traces of an adult playground existing, but as it was not in a good location and as it is a very small one (only 2 devices), it can be improved.
The following photo is an example of an adult playground that could be realized in the area. In order to be cost-effective, many of the devices could be ordered online (recycled equipment).
An adult playground like this could certainly contribute to the togetherness of a community, and of course it is a good way to promote healthier lifestyle as well.
